BOG’s annual Potato Day and Green Fair in Kelso was as popular as ever with all varieties, both modern and Victorian, selling like hot (potato) cakes. But which was the oldest variety?

We are delighted to announce that once again we have had a strong demand for stalls at BOG’s Potato Day Green Fair and with all the space taken, there will be the usual favourites and a few new faces. Here’s this years stallholders.

Most of the UK’s upland hay meadows have disappeared since the late 1940’s. The Tweed Meadow Project, run by Merlindale Nature, seeks to reverse this loss.

BOG’s acclaimed Potato Day is coming soon – on Sunday 3 March 11.00 – 3.00 at Borders Event Centre, Springwood Park, Kelso.

The Conference of Parties, or COP 27, is imminent. Here is an update for us by Ilona McDowell, who instigated and led a Climate Change group within BOG. Ilona continues to be an extremely strong advocate of any efforts by BOG members to reduce our own carbon emissions and to encourage others to do so.

I had a lovely half hour today bagging up my leafmould (made from last year’s leaves), ready to use in potting up plants during the coming year. It’s so much easier to make than I ever thought and, with my system, doesn’t take up much time or space in the garden.
